With my children being both Cambodian and Dominican, I wanted to represent their Dominican side in the form of jewelry that could also be universal.
What reminds me of my mother and grandma in law? Coffee! The smell of brewing coffee. For over 10 years, they would always offer me a cup of coffee. My son was eating pan con cafe since he was a toddler. Now all my kids love it!
Years ago, I didn’t realize it was a cultural thing. I don’t think my mother in law realizes it either, when she brought coffee beans to my new home just recently in 2025 and asked for LA GRECA. I did not have one. She didn’t know I’ve never used one in my life!
Now I have one of hers and the smell of it brewing is the coziest smell, and reminds me of her home that’s always been second home to all of us
